RJ45 connector with ethernet and PoE (power over ethernet)

Today i had a customer ask me if we had any devices to offer for a PoE (power over ethnernet) application. I told him about the PoE / PoE Plus "MagJacks" from Bel (Bel Fuse - Stewart connector) and he found the information interesting, so i figured i'd share it with you...

I'm not an engineer, but to the best of my knowledge, PoE, or the original IEEE802.3af standard, allows up to 12.95watts of power to be carried over the unused pair of wires in a 10/100 fast ethernet or 1000 baset gigibit cable (ie: cat5, cat5e, cat6, cat6a.)

In order to do this, the RJ45 connectors on both the PSE (power sourcing equipment) for example a mid-span PoE switch, to the PD (powered device) for example a VoIP phone or IP camera, must be PoE or PoE plus capable.

All that said, we carry BEL (or Bel Fuse - Stewart connector) and they have several options in their MagJack product line to accomodate designs of POE. They are...
